Even the purest peptide degrades if it's stored poorly. A practical guide to protecting material integrity in the lab.

Purity at the point of manufacture only helps you if the material is still intact at the point of use. Peptides are sensitive to heat, moisture, light, and repeated temperature cycling. Good storage practice protects the standard you paid for.

General Storage Guidance

  • Store lyophilized peptides frozen — typically at around -20°C — when not in use.
  • Keep material sealed and protected from moisture; humidity is a common cause of degradation.
  • Protect from light and avoid leaving compounds at room temperature longer than necessary.
  • Always follow the specific storage instructions on the product's Certificate of Analysis.

Avoid Freeze-Thaw Cycling

Repeatedly freezing and thawing a reconstituted peptide is one of the fastest ways to degrade it. Where possible, prepare single-use aliquots so you only thaw what you need. Each avoided freeze-thaw cycle is integrity preserved.
